elite (ih-LEET)

elite 可以作名词，也可以作形容词，是比较常见的词。

1. 名词：精英；精英阶层

The political elite controlled the country.
政治精英阶层控制着这个国家。

He was part of the country's economic elite.
他属于这个国家的经济精英阶层。

这里的 the elite = 精英阶层 / 上层人士。

2. 形容词：精英的；顶尖的

He attended an elite university.
他上了一所顶尖大学。
